MySQL 8.0 is significantly faster than MariaDB now
MariaDB was used to be a much faster replacement for MySQL, but the new version 8.0 is faster than MariaDB by a large margin. That's why I suggest you to add MySQL 8.0 as a faster alternative to MariaDB.

ChrisI'm trying to install Shopware, but it needs MariaDB 10.3 or MySQL 5.7 to work. Please update to the latest stable and add MySQL 8 as an option.

Thiago MobilonI would even consider PerconaDB instead of either, as it users mysql8 with the optimizations that only comes in mysql 8 enterprise
